Accommodations & Facilities

As we are adapting in 2020 to a Virtual Community, we have committed to return to physical camp in 2021 again at Bellwether Farm

Bellwether Farm Camp,Retreat, and Education Center is a brand new camp built by the Episcopal Diocese of Ohio. Their mission is to offer a model for sustainable living that promotes physical and spiritual wellness, fidelity to the environment, and social justice by incorporating farming, food production, and environmental stewardship into land-based educational programs for people of all ages and backgrounds. The director relocated his family from Mississippi in order to be part of a community that lives its progressive beliefs. He wants us to feel completely welcomed at Bellwether Farm. Transracial Journeys will be the only group at the camp while we are there.

Below are a few highlights about the venue that will be relevant to our families.

Families will be housed in one of two different locations on the grounds. The Retreat Rooms  feature two extra long twin beds and can accommodate families of two or three (an extra mattress for the floor will be provided). Each of these rooms feature private bathrooms and air conditioning. The Seasonal Cabins  feature four bunk beds and two single beds and can accommodate up to 10 people.  The cabins are situated under a canopy of trees for shade, they are airy, with a ceiling fan and screened windows by each bed.  Restrooms with showers are located in a separate building.  RV Camping is available however there are no RV hookups available.

Amenities and Recreation:

The 137-acre property includes farmland, woodlands, meadows, hiking trails, picnic pavilions, playing fields, a campfire, and a five-acre pond for swimming and canoeing. It’s a beautiful, natural location that offers space for relaxing and activities of our own making.

Located 35 miles west of Cleveland Hopkins International Airport, the camp will be easy to reach for families that fly. Located 12 miles west of Oberlin, 30 miles southeast of Cedar Point Amusement Park, and 20 miles southeast of Kalahari Resorts, the camp is close to other vacation destinations for those who plan extended vacations around family camp.
